Puked Rainbows

WARNING: This blog post has a ton of links which may cause anxiety, increase in heart rate, and mild seizures due to its heavy info filled with awesomeness.

Yep. here we go. Just as the title said, my mind puked and farted rainbows.

Yes you can use the image above as your wallpaper or whatever you wanna do with it.

Well, let me start my story… NAH i’m just gonna skip to the good part! (YAY!)

let me just tell you that I think I’ve met THE MOST PASSIONATE FILIPINA ever. EVER. No its not Sen. Miriam Defenson Santiago( but I’d love to meet her too!) Anyway, she goes by the name Arriane Serafico aka Wanderrgirl(please do check out her super awesome site <3)

why the heck is she floating!?

Well that’s because she has this thing called the Postura Project(click the link cuz I won’t tell you any more mwahaha!)

As I was saying, we met at this enchantingly wonderful place called Co.Lab and thus began a wonderful series of collaborations which included an illustration and some design work. She embodies the pizzazz of the perfect client. Not too picky not too allovertheplace, juuust right.

Blogworthy. She asked me to design some stuff for her super spectacular 3-day blogging workshop in exchange, I can attend the workshop for free!(yay for free workshops!) Remember that thing I posted with the “Keep calm an Blog on”? well that was it.

Day 1 of the workshop, I got lost. And it went something like this,

  • LRT-MRT to Boni Avenue Station, went down and walked toward where the tricycles where at.
  • Asked to be dropped off Brixton St. They dropped me off at a Mc Donalds. Wasn’t sure where I was since the map I printed was of no use cuz there where NO STREET SIGNS.(where the F was Brixton St!?)
  • Luckily I asked a tricycle driver and he knew where it was, BUT no tricycles were allowed beyond Pioneer Plaza which was near Three Brixton(where Co.lab was)
  • Got to Pioneer Plaza, took a wrong turn, got hopelessly lost and went back t the plaza, then I SAW IT. 3 BRIXTON. THANK THE GODS.

And I am rewarded for my efforts with new faces, new knowledge, and some freebies+cakepops ❤

@Co.Lab Xchange. There are 2 branches you see, Co.lab Makati and Co.Lab Xchange(i hope i got that right)

eeep Blogworthy creative blogging kit! Cake Pops (thank u Pop Shop!) were to die for! I was too busy filling my mouth with cake I forgot to take pics of it. I will not apologize for deliciousness.

We were asked to list down adjectives, nouns, people we admire, etc. And based on that we made a rainbow colored mind map of sorts.

Here was mine.

meow. Nekko cat travels. Nekko Travels. Nice concept, hmmm.

thank u H.E.A.R.T. by Abbey + FILED for the lovely Notebooks and Customized Pencil case!

That’s about it, will post more when I attend days 2 & 3 of the workshop 🙂

Will I be able to attend the workshop with you?

Sorry, No. But maybe next time when Arriane hosts another awesome workshop. Till the next blog post then! ❤

I try to be as productive as I can, learning new things everyday. But honestly, there are days where there’s just nothing coming out.

This so called ARTIST’S BLOCK . How do I cope with it? I don’t. I don’t force it. It just goes away eventually after a long process of procrastination frustration and doing nothing.

Well for those of you who really need help, here are just some of what I do to try and get things flowing again(WARNING: this works only 50-80% of the time, you don’t have to take my advice)

  • WATCH  MOVIES, SITCOMS, SHOWS, ANYTHING. READ A BOOK. – Why? to refresh your mind of course! Staring at a blank surface won’t get you anywhere and you’ll just end up frustrated, so instead of doing THAT, go watch a good movie/read a good book, get your juices flowing.
  • DOODLE IT OUT. – Like this recent blog post i read, A doodle a day keeps the stress away” (it helps you to get creative as well) Don’t be afraid to just let it go, get a pen/marker/pencil/etc and start doodling.

  • DO SOMETHING ELSE. – Cook. Do arts and crafts. Make a boat. Paint a picture. Take photographs of your siblings. Practice singing. Exercise. Learn to do magic. Write. Make a film documentary about your neighborhood. Go out and explore. Go on a date. Do SOMETHING. MOVE. LIVE.

If those don’t work, I guess you just have to wait till inspiration comes back again.

That’s all for my “trying-to-give-advice” part. Now look at the AWESOME I did in Photoshop.

Practice makes AWESOME.

Something new

Something I’ve been working on this past week.
Its a secret for now, but I’m learning a lot about graphic design
these days which is a great thing for me.
Practice makes perfect.
Good reference is key.
Go outside once in a while and get inspired.

it often serves simply as something to aim at.”
